What We Believe
About God
There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 5:48, 3:16-17, 28:19)
About the Bible
It is the inspired, reliable, inerrant and authoritative word of God. It establishes the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice. (2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:15-16)
About Jesus
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin and is both fully God and fully human. Jesus Christ died as the sacrificial substitute to pay the penalty for sin, Jesus Christ physically rose from the dead and is seated at the right hand of God in heaven and will one day return in person. (Philippians 2:6-11; Luke 1:34 – 38; John 1:1-4,14; I Peter 3:18; Hebrews 2:9; Romans 5:9; Acts 2:23-24; Hebrews 8:1; Matthew 26:64)
About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to indwell, guide, teach, and empower the believer and convince the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit so that they can live righteous and holy lives. It is the Holy Spirit who gives spiritual gifts to believers to be used to accomplish God’s plan for the church. (John 14:15-17; John 16:13, Acts 1:8; John 16:7-11; Ephesians 4:7-12, 5:18; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
About Salvation
Men and women were originally created in the image and likeness of God. They fell through disobedience, thereby causing both physical and spiritual death. All men and women are born with a sinful nature, are separated from the life of God and can be saved only through the atoning work of Jesus Christ. Those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God. Those who don’t turn from sin and believe in Jesus will be raised to eternal punishment. (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; 1 Corinthians 15:20-23; Revelation 21:1-4; Titus 3:4-7; Ephesians 2:8-9, Revelation 21:8; John 5:28-29).
About the Church
The Church consists of all those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, are saved by his death and resurrection from the cross, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body and the Church, which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the Gospel to all nations and to disciple people of every nation. The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together on mission to worship God, fellowship, encourage each other spiritually, to pray, to share the gospel and observe the practices of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. (Ephesians 1:22-23; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:42-47; Matthew 26:26-30; Romans 6:3-4)
About Eternity
There will be a bodily resurrection of the saved and of the lost; for the former, a resurrection unto life; for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment. (I Corinthians 15:20-23; John 5:28-29)
The Second Coming
Jesus Christ will return in person to earth in power and glory. This is the believer’s blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service. (Hebrews 10:37, Luke 21:27, Titus 2:11–14 )
